- You have 2 days to work solely on your chamber music pieces for the Prism Concert. Remember: choose one section at a time, make a plan, be picky (politely). Notes and rhythms are only the first step. Consider articulation, shaping, phrasing, breathing, dynamic contrast, intonation, etc. Also, remember to address concerns in your individual part (horizontally) and in relation to the whole ensemble (vertically).
- 3rd Period: Your arrangements are in the sub-folder. Ask the sub for them and hand them out. Most people got their 1st or 2nd choice: Flutes (First Noel), Clarinets (Rudolph), Sax/Horn (Let It Snow), Trumpets (Baby, It's Cold Outside), Trombones (Bohemian Rhapsody), Tuba/Euph (Jingle Bells)
- You'll need to split up, obviously. Some can use the hallway/lobby. Snyder can unlock the auditorium, if needed. However, some classes have 5-6 groups, so you'll have to be creative with where you rehearse. But, be mindful of other classes. Try not to set-up where you'll be overly intrusive.
- I've let Mr. Snyder know that, if any groups are getting out of hand, that he is welcome to give you an alternate assignment on Teoria of 100 clef reading examples, rhythmic dictation, etc. I hope no one needs to do this. However, if so, he will let me know. You will then need to screenshot your results and they will count as a test grade.
We'll have "show and tell" Wednesday. Be prepared to perform part or all of your piece for the class! Have fun!
